It’s been a while since I posted last so I thought I would give you a little update on what I’ve been up to. Christmas is in full swing here at styling HQ with a number of shoots booked into the diary for the next few weeks.
Recent projects include styling the M&S Autumn flowers brochure (with the lovely Catherine Gratwicke on photography) and working on the chef James Martin’s new cookbook which will launch this Autumn with his TV show Home Comforts.
I’m also really excited to have been asked to work with Not on the Highstreet on a top secret shoot! I’ll keep you posted on the results.
I’ve also managed to squeeze in a staycation in Somerset, a few days at Wilderness Festival, a little jaunt to Egypt and a trip to the beautiful fields of Mayfield Lavender (a visit is highly recommended!)
What a lovely shoot this was to work on. I also got to work with the very talented photographer Polly Wreford whose work I have always admired. I’m so pleased with the results. You can pick up your copy in your local Marks and Spencers! Below are some behind the scenes snaps.
Their vintage bouquet was just beautiful. This one went to my mum!
Styling the back cover.
The location was great and we had lots of sun for our outdoor shots.
I loved this reading room in the house.
But the kitchen was my favourite. Look at the light!
In my time as a stylist I have worked on many many photoshoots but never before have I got to commission my own one. So with the nearing launch of Hello Petal I decided that some rather beautiful photography would be needed.
Debi working her magic
One of the first shoots that I ever worked on as an assistant was with the photographer Debi Treloar. From then on I became a pretty big fan of her work. Take a look at her portfolio here and you will see why. She’s worked on over 50 interiors books! So asking her to collaborate with me on this was very exciting.
Me painting at the kitchen table
Like most shoots that I style alot of preparation goes into the shoot beforehand. I did lots of research on what sort of photography I wanted, what kind of look was I going for, who did I want it to appeal, where was the location going to be etc There was alot of consider. After much pressing and preening of samples the shoot took place a couple of weeks ago and I am pretty made up with the results! I can’t wait to show the final images but for now here are some behind the scenes images from the shoot.
The Zinnia cushion sitting pretty
Of course we had to have some flowers on the day. These peonies were beautiful. I got them from M&S and was really impressed with the quality. I’ve actually just finished styling the M&S Summer flower brochure and they have some lovely bouquets for this season.
Do you recognise the painting on the table? It was one of the ones featured on Design* Sponge. I’m kind of in love with this kitchen! Look at the floral breakfast bar chairs and the shelves at the back! Beautiful!
Some of my paintings up on the wall.
The living room. I think I need a Moroccan lantern like that in my life.
Samples were everywhere!
Hello Petal has her very own facebook page which you can ‘like’ here and you can also follow me on instagram @rebeccanewport. I can’t wait to show you the finished images. Stay tuned!
I’m really excited to announce that my new textiles range Hello Petal By Rebecca Newport of London will be launching this Summer!
It’s been a long time in the making and I’m finally nearing the end…or really the beginning (!) with the photoshoot booked in for next week. I’ll be working with the amazingly talented photographer Debi Treloar who is one of my all time favourite photographers.
I’m looking forward to giving you the insider scoop all the way up to the launch including behind the scenes sneak peek photos at the shoot so follow me on instagram @rebeccanewport and ‘like’ the Hello Petal page on Facebook.
